List subheader at a glance

Long lists need visible section labels that stay aligned with items instead of being rebuilt from arbitrary text.

  • Passive by contractNo collapse, selection, click API or automatic grouping — it is structural text.
  • Aligned by tokensInset alignment is derived from the list item leading column, not a copied literal.
  • Sticky without JSSticky is native CSS: no observers, scroll listeners or offset math.

A quick look

A live component shows the default contract before the detailed specification.

01

Start with a title

The title prop covers most sections; the default slot takes over when you need markup.

02

Preserve intent

Use it to label sections, not to introduce interactive controls into a list.
